Volume One

Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design Graduating Exhibition

This exhibition was held from 18 to 26 November 2004. Feel free to browse the students' portfolio under the Exhibits section.

Volume One is the inaugural graduating exhibition for the Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design (BVAD) students at ACU National Strathfield Campus. For the sixteen of us displaying artwork in this show, it is the culmination of three years of hard work, determination and dedication. It would not have been possible without discipline, compromise and sacrifice.

However, we have gained much in terms of practical experience and skill development, and now have a clearer idea of what we want to do in the future. The highlight for us was the formation of some great friendships that extended far beyond the classroom, and we sincerely hope that they will remain as strong in the future as they are now. Completing the BVAD has been a great experience for all of us. Throughout the duration of the degree, we studied subjects such as Art History, Graphic Design, and covered all the major art disciplines (including sculpture, painting, photography, film and printmaking). Other areas of study such as Marketing, Management, and Professional Practice introduced us to the business aspect of the art and design industry, helping to prepare us for our own professional life.

In third year each student specialized in one particular area of study, either graphic design, studio practice or a combination of both. Understandably, almost all of the major areas of art and design are incorporated in the exhibition. Volume One is a reflection of the vast diversity of the students' interests and is also a rich showcase of the artistic talent within the group.
